Terry was one of my closest friends and remained perhaps my most trusted mentor for almost fifteen years. His vision, understanding and wisdom were singular. He understood music as a pure art form, as an end in itself, and as a key to understanding divinity and the mechanics of the universe. He was in the midst of weaving what I can only call a metaphysics of song, which seamlessly wove concepts of music, philosophy, theology and physics into a contiguous and consummately beautiful whole. His thoughts and discoveries span almost thirty notebooks, and it is my sincere hope that many of these will one day be publicly available, compiled into a collection to sit beside Lamperti\'s Vocal Wisdom, which he so loved. In my thirty years I have known no finer man, no wiser teacher, and no better friend than Terrence McCombs. His memory and his teachings will remain a part of me always.
