Young Jonas Photos

Three new photos of my mother’s family showed up recently.  I thought I would make these photos available since I made all the other photos I have of my Jonas Grandparents have already been made available.

This first photo is from about 1956 and shows my grandparents, Norwood and Colleen Jonas, with my mother and uncle.  I don’t know the location.

Colleen, Sandra, Norwood, and Douglas Jonas, ca 1956

This next photo I expect was taken about 1957 or so. This photo is beside their home in Richmond, Cache, Utah.

This last photo is of my Grandpa, Norwood Jonas, with Jackie Jonas in June 1970.

Thomas and Cottle

Here are two more photos from my Great Grandmother’s collection that have names written on them.  I will make the rest of them available that we just don’t have a clue about at another time.  Both were given to Lillian Coley Jonas, probably from classmates or close friends.

Irene Cottle gave this photo to Lillian and states the same.  I assume this was a close friend of some sort.  Irene Elizabeth Cottle born 20 November 1893 in Richmond, Cache, Utah and died in La Grande, Union, Oregon.  She married Edward William Pfel.

This photo from “Dellas Thomas”, at least that is how the name is spelled on the back.  Taken in Lewiston, Cache, Utah on 27 December 1914.  Perhaps a boyfriend at the time?  John Dellas Thomas was born 21 September 1896 in Lewiston and died 19 January 1985.

Ellis Seth Jonas

With the passing of Uncle Ellis and his funeral today, I thought I would make available the pictures I have of him over the years similar to other family members.  My way of remembering him and honouring the family.  Until we meet again.

Ellis Seth Jonas was born 6 September 1926 in Lewiston, Cache, Utah to Lillian Coley and Joseph Nelson Jonas.  The fifth child of eight to his parents (my Grandfather, Norwood, was fourth).  Ellis was born on the tenth wedding anniversary of his parents.  He married Geraldine Pitcher 17 August 1946 in Elko, Elko, Nevada.  My Grandparents were going to elope and go at the same time but chickened out and ended up making the trip the next month.  Five children were born to the marriage; Kent in 1949, Mary Lou in 1951, Julie in 1954, Dan in 1958, and Ron in 1965.  Ellis died at home in Smithfield, Cache, Utah 12 August 2012 and will be buried today, 18 August 2012 in Smithfield.

I have a host of World War II pictures.  I will just present them all here.

I have this graduation picture.  I don’t know if it is high school or college, probably graduation from Utah State in 1951 or 1952.  At this link are a couple of photos from Ellis’ days coaching baseball.

Wilburn Norwood Jonas

Similar as I have done with other family members, I thought I would make available all the pictures I have of Grandpa.  I won’t write much, just present the few photos and documents I have in chronological order, as best I can tell.

Wilburn Norwood “Nor” Jonas was born 15 May 1924 in Lewiston, Cache, Utah to Lillian Coley and Joseph Nelson Jonas.  The fourth child of eight to his parents.  He married Colleen Mary Andra 27 September 1946 in Elko, Elko, Nevada.  Three children were born to him and Colleen; Douglas in 1952, Sandra in 1954, and Jackie in 1960.  He died 14 March 1975 in Burley, Cassia, Idaho and was buried 19 March 1975 in Richmond, Cache, Utah.

1957 Jonas Reunion

Since it is that time of year, I thought I would post a couple of pictures from a past Jonas Reunion.  Here are the photos I have from the 1957 Jonas Reunion held in Richmond, Cache, Utah.  This is the family of Joseph and Lillian Jonas.

A shot of the end of one of the picnic tables.

I have reunion pictures from 1958, 1959, and 1962 but there are not as many as this year.  I will probably do all the rest of the reunions I have in one post at a later date.

Evan Kay Elliott

For Evan’s birthday, and since he provided me some photos and I do not know what else to do with them, I will post them on here.

He is not technically my relative and I have held on to the photos because he knew I did family history and would make them available to family.  He provided these photos to me in the summer of 2004.  I scanned them and have kept them safe since them.  These are all the photos he provided for me.  I am including a few others that I have that include my Grandmother, Colleen.  I do not know the status or whereabouts of any of the other individuals in the photos.  I have put them in chronological order as much as I can.  These individuals are named as Evan gave them to me.

Evan Kay Elliott was born the fourth of six children on 19 June 1934 to Ethel Helen Heath and William Henery Elliott in Soda Springs, Caribou, Idaho.  His father was born in Lago, Bannock, Idaho (now Caribou County) and his mother was born in Liberal, Seward, Kansas.  He graduated from Paul High School.  He married Beatrice F Lamoureau 9 May 1961 in Elko, Elko, Nevada.  They were divorced shortly afterward.  He married Colleen Mary Andra, a widow of Wilburn Norwood Jonas, 9 April 1976 in Burley, Cassia, Idaho.  They were later sealed 5 May 1978 in Idaho Falls, Bonneville, Idaho at the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.  They were divorced about 1987.  He then married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Jeanette Loebsack, 6 April 1989 in Elko.  They lived together until she passed 30 September 2003 in Twin Falls, Twin Falls, Idaho.  Evan lived alone until he passed at home in Twin Falls 24 October 2007.  He was buried 3 November 2007 in Paul, Minidoka, Idaho.

1955 Coley Reunion

I have these two photos of the 1955 Coley Reunion in Richmond, Cache, Utah.  These two pictures are obviously of the same group, the black and white one of much better quality, but I thought I would include the color one since it can add a dimension to the black and white (since it is pretty blurry).  The first picture seems like it was just for Coley descendants, but then spouses sneak in to the picture, so I really do not know what was the thinking for the shot.  The second photo has a few more people I will need help naming, especially the younger ones.  Let me know if there are corrections.  (Click on the photos to see them closer)
